Dr Alex marks two years since brother Llŷr’s untimely death with emotional tribute

Dr Alex George has shared an emotional tribute to his brother Llŷr as he marked two years since his passing.

The former Love Island star, 27, shared a photo of himself with his arm around his younger brother, who was 19 when he died, to his 2 million followers.

Both Alex and Llŷr are smiling for the camera in the sweet snap with Alex wearing his A&E doctor’s outfit while Llŷr looks smart in grey trousers and a white shirt.

The younger sibling of Dr Alex was about to train as a doctor, and tragically passed away in 2020 after suffering with mental health troubles.

Dr Alex – who recently left medicine – accompanied the picture with an emotional tribute as he marked two years since Llŷr died.

It read: “I can’t believe two years have passed. This is the last time I saw you, I wish this was all a nightmare and I’d wake up. Sometimes the reality, is worse than your nightmares.”

He went on: “The worst days are waking up and forgetting for a moment, because then I have to remember all over again. I hate those days. One day we will meet again, I hope. I love you Llŷr, my boy.” Followed by a blue heart emoji.

Fans rushed to the post to share their support for Alex.

One wrote: “I’m sure he’s watching over you with a huge smile on his face, you’ve changed so many lives fighting for awareness and acceptance, the amount of lives you have saved already will be endless,” followed by a high five emoji and blue heart emoji.

Another shared: “Lovely photo and words I am so sorry for your loss, he looks a beautiful soul, sending love and peace. You are doing amazing work in his memory,” followed by a red heart emoji.

While a third penned: “So very sorry for your loss and the pain you are going through,” followed by a red heart emoji.

Back in May, Alex revealed a new tattoo on his wrist that he got in a touching tribute to his little brother.

Alex’s new wrist tattoo is Llŷr’s name in Llŷr’s own handwriting, which was taken from one of his schoolbooks.

The former Love Island 2018 contestant posted two photos; the first of the tattoo and the second of the school book.

He captioned it: "Llŷr 'God Of The Sea'. The most beautiful name, it means so much to have it done in his handwriting. We will never forget you my boy x.”

Alex's newest tattoo is placed underneath a previous inking of a wave that he got in tribute to his brother in 2021.

Alex announced the devastating news of his brother’s suicide post in an Instagram post in July 2020.
