Duncan James speaks out over Blue reunion plans – 20 years after debut single

Duncan James has addressed whether we’ll get our hands on new Blue music, something we’re all desperately crying out for.

It is an important year for the group – made up of Duncan, Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe and Antony Costa – as they celebrated the 20-year anniversary of their debut single in May.

Side note: How has it been that long?!

Chatting to Metro.co.uk on his latest campaign with Burns Pet Nutrition, talk turned to their plans to give us more bangers.

‘Well, at the minute we’re all really busy doing lots of other projects,’ he told us. ‘I’m about to go into Panto season and then I’m going on tour with the War of the Worlds musical with Claire [Richards] from Steps.

‘So my foreseeable future is pretty full on really. But, like I say, never say never.’

Blue released their debut single, All Rise, in 2001 and have been blessing us with hits ever since.

As well as a series of albums, they competed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001, and ended up in 11th position with I Can.

Way better than the nil points of years gone by.

Their last album came six years ago, with the release of Colours in 2015, meaning we’re more than desperate for new songs.

‘I mean, I haven’t seen the boys for a while, so it would be nice to try to catch up with them,’ Duncan added.

‘Of course, Lee lives in a different country now, and Simon and Lee just had new babies so they’re in dad mode, baby mode.

‘Hopefully we’ll all try and get together in the New Year and catch up, because I haven’t seen them for ages and I think we will need a good night out.’

Duncan’s words are slightly different to Simon’s recent confession – as the star teased a huge anniversary surprise for us all.

‘Something’s definitely in the works,’ he said on Fubar Radio in summer. ‘It’s just that we can’t, we just want to make sure that all of the T’s are crossed and all of the I’s are dotted, and all the contracts are in place.

‘But, you know, as Blue we’ve always continuously made music over the years.

‘You know what, it’s really, really hard to say because with Blue, we’ve never gone anywhere, we’ve always been together.

‘Before the lockdown we was in Bali doing weddings and then we was off to do a tour around Southeast Asia, so we’re always together.’

Well, whatever it is, save us a spot in the front row.
