English new wave band Duran Duran recently dropped their new single “Laughing Boy.” The track is one of three songs the band is going to add to the deluxe version of their 15th studio album, Future Past.
The album includes “Laughing Boy,” “Velvet Newton,” and “Invocation,” along with the twelve original tracks.
The track sings about the suffering of a certain “laughing boy” who is oppressed.
“Oh I have been your laughing boy/I took it on the chin — accepted gracefully/ And all the heat that you deploy — your laughing boy/The more I take — your laughing boy — the more I break” go the lyrics.
Duran Duran is also in contention for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2022 along with the likes of Eminem, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Beck, Pat Benatar, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest, Kate Bush, Devo, Judas Priest, Eurythmics, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, and Dionne Warwick.
The final list will be announced in May followed by the ceremony in the fall.
