Eamonn Holmes has appeared to make a dig at the TV producers who axed himself and wife Ruth Langsford from their Friday This Morning slot.

The 61 year old TV presenter has said working in TV is made “difficult” by people who “don’t understand it”.

Eamonn, who recently confessed he doesn’t know how to tie his shoelaces, made the dig as he discussed the industry he works in on the Talking Success podcast.

He said: “Television is the easiest thing you’ll ever do in your life, made difficult by people who don’t understand it or who want to seem important because if they suddenly say, ‘No, no, no’ they’re important.”

Eamonn also shared his dismay at those who don’t speak to their guests before interviewing them.

TV star Eamonn added: “It never ceases to amaze me how few interviewers take the time to talk to their guests.

“Some will say you don’t want to shatter the illusion or you want to keep the interview fresh. Believe me, I can feign fresh.”

Eamonn’s comments come after he and wife Ruth, 60, were removed from their Friday hosting slot on This Morning and replaced by Alison Hammond, who reportedly initially turned down the gig, and Dermot O’Leary.

The news was announced by ITV in November as Managing Director, ITV Daytime, Emma Gormley said: “We are delighted that Alison and Dermot will be joining the main presenting family on This Morning.

“Alison has provided some of the most memorable moments on the show in recent times and teamed up with the brilliant Dermot we think they are a great pairing in addition to our fabulous presenting line up of Phillip and Holly and Eamonn & Ruth.”

During Eamonn and Ruth’s final Friday appearance on the ITV show, Eamonn appeared to make a dig about ITV bosses on air.

As the married couple discussed Christmas trees being discounted so close to Christmas Day, he said: “Which is why they're getting rid of us on a Friday now – after all this sort of chat.”

“Oh stop it,” Ruth exclaimed, laughing, before the pair continued on with the show.

The dig may have put Eamonn and Ruth’s future opportunities at risk as the pair were reportedly told to keep quiet about the shift in This Morning presenters.

A source told The Sun: “Ruth and Eamonn are obviously upset and feel humiliated about being put out to pasture.

“But they've been advised to keep schtum or risk losing more work. It could damage their brand if they lash out.”
