The summer of sport might have made for some great TV moments, but possibly not if you're an EastEnders fan as the soap's usual scheduling slots are about to be bumped once more.
During the Euros, soap fans had to watch the latest instalments from Albert Square either late in the evening or on BBC iPlayer – meaning that they were in more danger than usual of spoilers as a week's worth of episodes were released at once.
The football might be over, but the Walford residents are only briefly back in their home slots as the soap's schedules are about to be thrown into chaos again when the Olympics gets under way later this month.
With the BBC prioritising broadcasts from Tokyo to follow British athletes' efforts at the Olympics, EastEnders has been relegated to second place for the second time this summer.
Rather than airing at its normal times of 7pm or 8pm, the BBC One soap will go out at 9.05pm or 9pm from July 26 and will continue offering the iPlayer box sets until August.
Those who don't want to stay up late to watch EastEnders can use the iPlayer box sets, where again a whole week of episodes will be uploaded at once, so watch out for spoilers over the summer if you won't be viewing them all in one go.
EastEnders executive producer Jon Sen said: "We’re so glad that the audience has enjoyed getting ahead of the game – keeping up with Albert Square on iPlayer whilst enjoying the Euros, so we’re carrying on releasing the week’s episodes on Monday throughout Tokyo 2020."
Despite being bumped around to make space for sport, EastEnders embraced the Euros, even including a hastily written and recorded scene the day after after England's Euros final loss to mark the event with lines put together and aired on Monday.
Episodes would usually be recorded a number of weeks in advance of airing.
The soap also recently featured a cameo from former football manager Harry Redknapp who stopped into the Vic for a pint with landlord Mick Carter, who along with Danny Dyer who plays him is a big fan of Harry's ex club West Ham.
