Earlier this week, a small London art space was filled with celebrities as painter David Hockney showed some “old friends” his new project.
The celebrated artist launched the Lightroom at space in London’s Kings Cross with his immersive experience titled: David Hockney: Bigger & Closer.
The 85-year-old has been avidly involved in the creation of this experience, and found himself earlier this week surrounded by Tom Hanks, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John and Jools Holland.
As photographer Rich Hockney captured the unexpected collection of stars, fans awed at the images capturing “an incredible audience”.
Laurenhockney penned: “What a bunch of legends,” and Matty_mayes added: “What a picture mate.”
David Hockney was all-smiles for his big moment
Tom Hanks, Jools Holland, Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney appeared at the Lighthouse earlier this week, posing in front of David’s celebrated artworks.

David sat back and enjoyed the evening as celebrities like Sir Paul and Tom Hanks posed with his merchandise.

The photographer noted on his Instagram today: “Very special evening last night, David giving a viewing of his new show at the Lightroom to his old friends Paul McCartney, Elton John, Tom Hanks and Jools Holland.

David shared the special evening with Claudia Winkleman and Mick Jagger’s ex-wife Bianca Jagger, while Graham Norton was also spotted at the gala opening.
