I recently spent the afternoon doing arts and crafts with the kids after Theo asked me to draw him a giant Spider-Man and help him colour it in.
This sounds hilarious, but it made me realise how therapeutic I find it and it has made me want to look into going to some art classes. I’ve always thought it would be great to do a life-drawing class with Pete as he also finds drawing really relaxing.
We tease him about it but he will sit down and colour with the kids and then they will get up and walk off and he’ll still be there hours later.
I might buy him a life-drawing class for his birthday this month – we just need to find someone to be the model. There must be an agency where you can hire someone to come to your house. Can you imagine? Happy Birthday, here’s a naked person to draw!
I’ve also been so busy with the kids’ various clubs recently. Millie does dancing, swimming, cheerleading, gymnastics and piano, while Theo also goes to gymnastics and swimming.
As he can still find school quite tiring, I haven’t signed him up to so many clubs yet. Millie is getting so good at gymnastics and she did a front walkover for the first time the other day.
I’d be absolutely thrilled if she wanted to pursue a career in gymnastics in the future. It would be a dream to have a child that loves a sport so much that they want to make it more than just a hobby.
I think gymnastics is a great sport as it’s all about being strong, it’s good for confidence and there is the team element as well. She has come on so much over the last couple of years and it’s been amazing to watch her improve.
A Travel Boost
It’s brilliant news that day two Covid tests will soon be scrapped for fully vaccinated travellers arriving into the UK. It’s in time for half-term and it will make holidays so much more accessible for a lot of families as it reduces the cost.
The tourism industry is also a huge part of the economy for many countries, so it will be a big boost as the industry has been hit hard over the last two years. The travel sector really needs to get up and running again properly so as few barriers as possible is good as long as it’s safe.
Of course, if there is a new variant of concern then travel may need to be restricted, but while we can, I think it should be full steam ahead.
Millie's C-Section Journey
Millie Mackintosh opened up recently about her recovery from her C-section and said she has found it easier the second time around.
For me, having a Caesarean was a lot more painful than I was expecting. I think there is the perception that having one is an easier option, but I found the recovery after so hard and I really struggled with it.
It may be because I was also looking after a two-year-old at the same time, but how difficult it was took me by surprise.
EXCLUSIVE TO OK! VIP CLUB
Millie also revealed she has had her placenta made into pills following the birth of her second child Aurelia. It’s not something I’ve done, but having seen quite a few placentas during my training, I can’t imagine eating one!
But eating the placenta in a variety of forms is a growing trend. The claimed benefits of placenta pills include a decrease in postpartum mood disorders and stress hormones, and restoring iron levels following bleeding after birth; although, there is limited research looking at the risks and benefits.
I would advise anyone considering eating their placenta to discuss it with their midwife, as there are certain situations where it wouldn’t be advised.
