Florence Pugh was seen happily applauding Olivia Wilde at the Don’t Worry Darling premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Monday night, with the director acknowledging her praise.

The psychological thriller has been the centre of attention in recent days, with many of us glued to the drama following rumours of a feud between the filmmaker and lead actress Florence.

However, it looks as though the two women cast aside any supposed feud during the movie’s five-minute standing ovation.

In a video shared on the film’s official Instagram account, Florence can be seen turning to face Olivia as she clapped and nodding in her direction.

Olivia noted the sweet gesture and reciprocated the applause, while fellow cast members Gemma Chan, Harry Styles and Chris Pine also celebrated.

Florence had all eyes on her at last night’s premiere as she posed for pictures on the red carpet alongside her Grandma Pat.

Following the premiere, she took to Instagram to reflect on taking her grandmother to the launch.

‘To start off my appreciation posts, I’d like to begin here,’ she penned. ‘A few months ago my Granzo Pat said she hadn’t bothered renewing her passport because she didn’t think she’d be doing too much travelling the older she gets. She is such an adventurer that it saddened us all that she was thinking that way.

‘I asked her, “but granny, what about being on the red carpet at my premiere in Venice? What about if Bear Grylls actually does invite you to run wild with him for an episode?”

‘After some thought she started the process. At the end of my walk down that carpet, I saw my granny taking pictures on her phone. I hugged her and asked if she would like to stand with me for a picture, her eyes lit up whilst also saying “oh they don’t want to see me..” I assured her they did.’

Florence continued: ‘Next thing I know she’s dancing for all the photographers calling her name. It was truly the most special moment I have ever had on a carpet.

‘She has always been beauty and grace, but to see her so proud and so natural when hundreds of people were watching and cheering was truly remarkable.’

Concluding her post, Florence described Granzo Pat as ‘remarkable’.

‘Thank you to all who made that moment special for us,’ she added. ‘Thank you to Venice Film Festival for your generosity and your kindness.’

Florence, who has been filming Dune 2 in Budapest, was notably absent from the Don’t Worry Darling press conference.

During the conference, Olivia dispelled rumours of any behind-the-scenes drama, telling reporters: ‘Florence is a force; we are so grateful she is able to make it tonight [to the premiere] despite being in production.’

She added: ‘As for all the endless tabloid gossip and noise out there, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel I need to contribute to it. It’s sufficiently well-nourished.’
