Frankie Essex opens up on beau Lukes foster care journey as he runs marathon for charity

Frankie Essex has spoken out about her boyfriend Luke Love's foster care experience after Action for Children has agreed to sponsor the doting dad for this year's London Marathon.

Luke, who shares twins Logan and Luella with former The Only Way Is Essex star Frankie, has been applying to run for the marathon for many years but has struggled to land a place.

However, after hearing about Action for Children and sharing his own foster story with the charity, they've agreed to sponsor him for the London Marathon much to Luke and Frankie's joy.

Discussing the matter in this week's OK! column, Frankie wrote: "No one really knows this, but Luke was fostered and he’s running the marathon for Action For Children, which is a foster children’s charity."

The mum-of-two went on to credit John Lewis' 2022 Christmas advert for bringing Action for Children to Luke's attention.

"For the London Marathon you have to apply to get in and not everyone gets a slot. He’s applied every year but he never gets a space, but at Christmas time the John Lewis advert was for Action For Children and without me knowing, he emailed the charity to tell his story and they’ve agreed to sponsor him for the marathon," Frankie explained.

"It’s brilliant. I don’t think he’d have known about the charity without the advert. I’m glad he’s doing it for a foster charity as it means even more to him than doing it for another charity – and to me as well."

Frankie also gushed about TOWIE co-star Debbie Bright who has fostered hundreds of children over three decades.

She penned: "I actually spoke to Debbie Bright from TOWIE last week because I noticed that she’s been posting pictures of a little baby. She’s had him since he was six weeks old.

"I just think she’s amazing. I want to big her up! She’s been fostering for 32 years and cared for over 200 children.

Luke’s foster mum only ever had him and they’re still in touch now. She’s lovely! He always goes and sees her on a Sunday."

Debbie's TOWIE daughter Lydia has also gushed about her mother's years of fostering and labelled her and her dad, Dave, as "inspirational".

"The most inspirational people in my life and in my world are my parents because they have dedicated 30 years of their life to helping children and helping families and they're just very selfless in their ways and they are just amazing all-round people," Lydia wrote on Instagram.

"We've just got an amazing family, a great group of friends, they're just incredible people so I just always try to mirror my life slightly on them and try and do them proud."
