Laura Adlington, who competed in The Great British Bake Off last year, took to Instagram to tell fans she had taken a “really bad” tumble in a crowded place, which left her feeling “humiliated” this week. And, the 31-year-old’s bad day didn’t stop there as she claimed she was then fat-shamed on her way home.
“The woman next to me kept huffing and puffing and making judgemental looks,” she spilled.
“I sat on half my seat and had a really uncomfortable, self-conscious journey home.”
Laura added the experience left her feeling “worthless”.
In a separate post, the former Bake Off star said it wasn’t the first time she had been judged for her weight and called for people to stop.
She added in view of her 193,000 followers: “Some people will say ‘just lose weight then’. But telling someone who is big to eat less and move more is like telling someone with depression to ‘just cheer up’.
“There are many reasons why people are overweight. It’s a complex issue and sadly one I feel is not met with the same sympathy as people with eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia.
“I wish there was more understanding, more acceptance, more empathy. I wish my most used word wasn’t ‘sorry’.
“No one should have to live in fear of being bullied or judged because of their appearance.”
She went on to thank her fans for their support as many commented on her post.
John Whaite wrote: “Lovely bumping into you yesterday.
“You looked beautiful and your smile certainly helped soothe my hangover head. Screw the haters.”
Fellow Bake Off star Candice Brown commented: “Always here my darling. Remember you are enough and worthy.”

According to Coral bookmakers, the latter is the favourite to be crowned the baking champion.
Laura made it to the final last year with Dave Friday and Pete Sawkins, who went on to win the show.
