Morning Live host Gethin Jones has been struggling to read the autocue while presenting the breakfast show with his co-star Kym Marsh. The 43-year-old TV star has now undergone laser eye surgery in order to solve the problem, ten years after first having the procedure.

Gethin took to social media this morning to share an update, days after announcing that the BBC programme would be off air for three weeks.

The break has come at the perfect time for the presenter as it will give him the opportunity to recover from the procedure before returning to work.

He said the original surgery had changed his life.

The latest procedure was only needed in one eye.

Earlier this morning, Gethin gave his 92,400 followers an update and explanation after sharing a post with no details last night.

He could be seen lying in bed with a protective screen taped to his eye.

He simply captioned the social media snap: “Night!”

Many took to the comments section of the post to ask if he was OK.

This morning he shared more details, alongside a picture of himself in a face mask and hair net.

“I had laser eye surgery 10 years ago – changed my life!

“Needed a bit of a tweak to one eye… “ he continued.

“I was struggling to read the autocue etc (so that’s what I’m blaming any fluffed lines on),” he added followed by a laughing emoji.

“Are you OK?” one follower asked in the comments section of last night’s post.

“Hope you manage to get some sleep Geth and wishing you a speedy recovery,” another added.

Realising the reason for the contraption, a third user remarked: “Laser surgery?

“The tape is holding your eye open so that must be why. How many hands am I waving at you? Try get some [sleep] It will be worth it to be contacts free I’m told.”(sic)

Another picture followed shortly after which showed Strictly Come Dancing pro Graziano Di Prima in a similar situation.

“OK OK @grazianodiprima has better tape game than me,”(sic) he wrote beside the picture.

The dancer appeared to have had the surgery on both eyes.

He later took to social media to clarify that the picture was taken last year.
