Gogglebox star Paige Deville has said she's been left "terrified" after receiving death threats after leaving the Channel 4 show last month.
The 25-year-old announced she was leaving the show after falling out with her mum, who also appeared with her, and spoke negatively of her time on the series as she announced her decision to quit.
Paige said she was leaving after appearing on four seasons "due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions and zero aftercare support".
Since then, Paige says she's been the target of cruel trolls who've left her fearful after sending death threats.
Speaking to BirminghamLive, Paige said: "I received a lot of positive messages when I left the show from people online.
"But I also received a lot of hate. Really nasty stuff. One person said 'just kill yourself.' I have lots of hateful messages like that.
"This is why I spoke out like I did about the lack of aftercare support shown by Channel 4 bosses. You need advice and support to deal with it. I am not a celebrity just a normal person and it is difficult.”
She added: "This is the kind of abuse you have to deal with. I am quite a strong person and I can deal with it the majority of the time. But there are times when I do feel down and I read that and it is just horrible.
"Some people may not be in such a good place mentally and it could send them into a very dark place."
Fellow Gogglebox star Shaun Ryder of Happy Mondays, who appears on the Celebrity version of the show, recently hit out at Paige for leaving the show.
Speaking to the Express, Shaun said: "What the f**k do you need support for on f****g Gogglebox for f**ks sake.
"Is she a bit of a snowflake or whatever they are called or woke?
"You f****g turn on the telly and watch f****g five minutes of something and have a laugh. It’s f****g not dramatic is it?"
But Paige hit back at Shaun's remarks, saying: "I couldn't believe it when I read his comments. I was absolutely gobsmacked.
"I am a huge Shaun Ryder fan and think him and Bez are hilarious. I have sent messages before on Twitter to them saying what a huge fan I am.
"But comments like the ones he has made implying I am woke or a snowflake are not helpful. You need the aftercare to deal with trolls like him.”
Paige previously claimed that her fall out with her mum was not to do with Gogglebox but rather a "serious family issue".
On Twitter, she explained: “To clarify, people thinking I fell out with my mom over Gogglebox, my ‘mom’ is an absolute disgrace who I wish to never speak to again due to a serious family issue NOT about a TV show.”
A Gogglebox spokesperson has previously stated: "The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.”
