Gogglebox star Tom Malone has been hailed as ‘a legend’ after giving blood platelets and plasma to the NHS.
The television personality posed for a picture at the donation centre which was shared by his co-star wife Julie on Instagram on Friday. She wrote: ‘Tom giving platelets and plasma today ! @givebloodnhs.’
Many of Julie’s followers took to the comments section to say how grateful they were for Tom’s actions after they found themselves needed platelets and plasma in the past, with some saying they would not be alive if it was not for such donations.

One person wrote: ‘Thank you Tom! I lost my Mum 4 years ago to leukaemia. The platelets and blood transfusions she received during her illness gave us an extra 2 years with her. People like you are literally saving lives.’
Another person wrote: ‘Well done Tom. I’ve had a stem cell transplant and was able to use my own cells but many people can’t and they rely on people like yourself to donate so thank you very much.’
‘Thanks Tom. I have low platelets, when my platelets drop to a certain level, I require a platelet transfusion- without people like you this isn’t possible,’ commented another follower.

While someone else shared: ‘This is amazing to see and thank you for posting this to bring attention! I have ITP and regularly have to get platelet infusions, without people like Tom I wouldn’t have survived the ordeal I’ve gone through in the last 10yrs!

It comes after their co-stars Marcus Luther and Mica Ven announced they were leaving the series earlier this month.
They made their debut in 2017, but opted to say goodbye to the BAFTA and National Television Award winning series so they can pursue other projects.

Marcus took to Instagram to credit the show’s producers for casting them, but insisted it was ‘time to put down the remote.’
He wrote: ‘We just want to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to @c4Gogglebox for having us for the last 5 years, even though we had to travel so far for filming (downstairs & through the corridor) it was so worth it, it’s been an epic journey! You guys are the bestest of the best.
‘We’ve had so much fun with you all tuning in at home and the hardworking Gogglebox crew but it’s time to put down the remote and see what else God has in store for us.
‘To everyone that has tuned in & sent us messages of love and encouragement over the years, we appreciate every last one of you. Thank you so much.’
