Hallmark fans are continuing to come to terms with Candace Cameron Bure’s exit from the network and many are turning to Danica McKellar for answers.
After word got out that the Fuller House actress had signed an exclusive deal with Great American Country Media (GAC), Candace confirmed the news with an Instagram post on April 19. Unsurprisingly, Hallmark Channel viewers expressed a mix of emotions about Candace following in the steps of fellow costars who have also made the move in recent months, including Danica. The Wonder Years star shared her thoughts on Candace becoming part of the GAC crew in her own Instagram post.
“Beyond thrilled that my good friend @candacecbure has joined me at @gactv!!” Danica captioned a selfie of herself and Candace. “She’s one of the smartest, most admirable human beings I know, both personally and professionally. And I’ve known her since our days on The Wonder Years and Full House (which is airing on @gactv, BTW!).”

She continued: “We were on the same season of Dancing with the Stars back in 2014, of course both did many movies at Hallmark for several years, and we have become good friends. 🤗 And now I’m super excited to be reunited on the same network again, bringing you guys entertaining, heartwarming movies on @gactv. 💕💕 Yay!!”
As folks may know, Danica made headlines in October 2021 when Deadline reported that she had agreed to work with GAC to star in and executive produce four original movies for GAC Family and GAC Living. According to the outlet, Danica will exclusively star in and produce romantic comedies and holiday movies with the new network through 2023.
Candace has taken on a similar role developing, participating in and producing TV shows and films. She’s also overseeing and curating programming, plus creating year-round seasonal content. But unlike Danica, there’s no end date mentioned for Candace’s involvement with GAC. Deadline noted that she won’t be appearing in Hallmark projects in the future, including the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries franchise.

After seeing Danica’s post, Hallmark fans took to the comment section with several questions. “Why is everyone leaving Hallmark? There won’t be anyone left. 😢,” one person wrote. “I’m curious. When actors sign a deal with GAC, does that mean Hallmark ceases to offer opportunities to them? Just wondering, but congrats to both of you. ❤️,” another added. “So exciting!! will you both still be on Hallmark christmas?” a different fan said.
While Danica didn’t reveal why she left Hallmark for GAC, Candace shared in a statement that she was looking forward to creating content that resonated with her and her loved ones. “I’m very excited to develop heartwarming family and faith-filled programming and make the kind of stories my family and I love to watch,” she said, per Deadline. “Great, quality entertainment with a positive message is what my partnership with GAC is all about!”
Although there are still lots of questions surrounding the surprise change, many are happy for Danica and Candace.
