Hannah Spearritt details ‘cracks’ that ended Paul Cattermole romance

Hannah Spearritt, 42, shed light on the breakdown of her relationship with her former bandmate Paul Cattermole, 46, who died on April 6.

It comes after S Club 7 paid tribute via their Instagram page, sharing they were left “devastated” by the loss.

The cause of Paul’s death is unknown, but it shocked fans as the announcement came shortly after the band had confirmed reunion plans.

Speaking to The Sun, the singer and actress fondly remembered her romance with Paul and the 1999 trip to Hollywood that sparked their relationship.

“We had a bit of a drunken snog one night and then when we got back to LA it just kind of developed.

“We would go out on long drives together at night, up into the hills to watch the sun set.

“It got to a point where we had to say something,” Hannah recalled.

“We were going to each other’s apartments and would stay over, but sneak out in the morning.”

Hannah revealed that the band’s success allowed their relationship to grow.

The former Primeval star admitted her relationship with Paul felt like “one long honeymoon period” while they explored Los Angeles together alongside the band.

However, Paul’s departure in 2002, one year before the band split, meant tensions between the lovebirds began to form.

Hannah shared: “When we came out of the band, the cracks started to appear.

“There were never any arguments, which was probably the problem, but we were quite different characters.

“We just ended up wanting different things.”

The pair ended the relationship in 2006 before reuniting in 2015.

She added: “We had so much history and fondness for each other.”

Hannah was shocked when hearing of Paul’s death, and admitted she hasn’t fully come to terms with the heartbreaking loss.

The star explained the situation was made even “more tragic” due to Paul looking forward to S Club 7’s upcoming tour more than anyone else in the band.
