Harry Gration’s funeral: BBC star laid to rest as fans flood the streets for final goodbye

A “thanksgiving service” for the beloved BBC journalist Harry Gration was held at York Minster this morning. The broadcaster, who was best known for his almost 40-year stint hosting Yorkshire’s Look North news programme, died suddenly in June aged 71.

He spent four decades at Yorkshire’s Look North news programme from 1982 up until his final show in 2020.The late journalist’s widow Helen was pictured alongside the pallbearers carrying the coffin ahead of the service this morning.

Many famous faces and fans alike joined together to pay their respects to Harry in Yorkshire this morning.

Journalists including Christine Talbot and Christa Ackroyd and retired cricket stars Geoffrey Boycott and Dickie Bird were in attendance for the event.

Fans lined the streets to pay tribute to the star, while the former Archbishop of York John Sentamu gave an address at the service.

His twin sons Harrison and Harvey stood beside their mum.

The Archbishop of York also spoke

John Sentamu gave an address at the service.

The Labour MP for Batley and Spen was looking emotional. 

The star was remembered for his incredible legacy
