The former One Direction member finally breaks his silence after a video of him allegedly spitting on his ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ co-star at the film festival went viral on social media.
AceShowbiz –Harry Styles has finally broken his silence on a viral video from Venice Film Festival in which he seems to spit on Chris Pine. In his first show since “Don’t Worry Darling” premiered at the Italian festival, the actor and singer took a moment to joke about the situation.
On Wednesday night, September 7, the former One Direction member addressed the incident while opening his “Love on Tour: Madison Square Garden Is Harry’s House” show. “This is our 10th show at Madison Square Garden,” he told the crowd. “It is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back in New York,” he continued, before adding some joke, “I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine.”
After a brief moment of pause, Harry said between laughter, “But fret not, we’re back!” His playful comments prompted concert-goers to scream and cheer the singer on as he held on to his guitar.
Harry’s response arrived after a video of the alleged incident broke the Internet. In the said footage, the “Watermelon Sugar” crooner could be seen walking to his seat in the Sala Grande at Venice. While slightly bending over his body, the pop star appeared to spit on Chris, who sat next to his girlfriend, Olivia Wilde.
Immediately after Harry made that motion, Chris abruptly stopped clapping and looked to his lap before he started laughing as the brief video came to an end. Another clip showed a different angle of the pair’s awkward exchange.
The viral clip prompted Chris’ rep to come forward with a statement vehemently denying the claims. “This is a ridiculous story, a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation,” the “Star Trek” actor’s spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday, September 6. “Just to be clear, Harry Styles did NOT spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.”
