Harry Styles has given fans a very special start to 2021 by releasing his long-awaited video for Treat People With Kindness, which stars none other than Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
The Fleabag actress joins Harry in the old-school Hollywood-inspired video which sees them wear matching outfits to perform an epic dance routine together.
The music video kicks off with Phoebe on a movie screen while Harry sings to a crowd below, before spotting Phoebe in the audience and hopping on her table.
Harry then takes Phoebe by the hand to lead her to the stage with him, where they both remove their jackets – Harry’s being a fetching bejewelled number custom-made by Gucci – to reveal their identical outfits underneath.
Harry also wore a white floral silk jacquard shirt with rhinestones, argyle knit V-neck vest with sequins and white wool twill wide leg flared trousers, a black grosgrain bowtie with all-over silver Swarovski crystals and a white silk satin cummerbund.
Phoebe’s outfit consists of a custom Gucci cream two button peak lapel suit with a white embroidered puff sleeve shirt with sequin cuff detail and the same sweater-vest with sequins.
The video for Treat People With Kindness – directed by Ben and Gabe Turner – comes just over a year after the song was released on Harry’s Fine Line album, which came out in December 2019.
Fine Line – the follow-up to his 2017 self-titled album – earned Harry three Grammy nominations for 2021 for best pop vocal album, best pop solo performance for Watermelon Sugar and best music video for Adore You.
It had been rumoured in December that Phoebe, who is an Emmy winner for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series, would be appearing in Harry’s next music video.
A leaked clip emerged on Twitter showing Harry singing to Phoebe in the black and white video, which had fans brimming with excitement.
Thankfully, the rumours were true and 2021 started with this epic collaboration we never knew we needed, with the message of Harry’s track – to treat people with kindness – being ever more relevant following the year the world has had.
TPWK is not the only recent foray Phoebe has had into the world of music, however, as she also recently directed a music video for Phoebe Bridgers’ song Savior Complex, which starred Normal People actor Paul Mescal.
