Hayden Panettiere’s brother’s cause of death revealed as family pay tribute

Hayden Panettiere’s brother Jansen’s cause of death has been revealed, with his family saying the actor died from an enlarged heart and valve complications.

The heartbreaking news of Jansen’s passing at the age of 28 was announced earlier this month after law enforcement were called to the actor’s home in New York.

It’s believed his friends raised concerns about him after he failed to attend a scheduled business meeting.

In light of Jansen’s cause of death being determined, his devastated family have released a statement.

“Jansen’s heart could be seen in his eyes, and his charm in his brilliant, engaging smile; his soul in his masterful and revealing paintings, and the joy of life in his dry wit,” they said.

“His charisma, warmth, compassion for others, and his creative spirit will live forever in our hearts and in the hearts of all whom he encountered.”

His family went on, as per ABC News: “Though it offers little solace, the Medical Examiner reported Jansen’s sudden passing was due to cardiomegaly (enlarged heart), coupled with aortic valve complications.”

"We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love and support towards our family as we navigate this unthinkable loss, and ask that we be gifted our privacy during this time of mourning.

"We love you so much Jansen and you will be in our hearts forever,” the heartbreaking statement concluded.

Jansen’s Instagram page, which has over 15,000 followers, has been inundated with condolences in the wake of his tragic passing.

On his final post shared 18 February, one person penned: “Rest in peace Jansen. You were such a dear friend to me & I am so grateful for all of the memories we had when we were young. You will be forever missed by all. Thank you for being such a light to everyone you came across.”

“you were such a light, Jansen. I know you will be deeply missed by many. Endless love, prayers and strength to the Panettiere family during this unimaginable time. RIP,” said another.

A third went on: “So saddened, such a beautiful sweet person. Rest Peacefully Jansen.”

Much like his actress sister, Jansen enjoyed a successful acting career with a role in The Walking Dead, and starred alongside Hayden in the 2004 Disney Channel movies Tiger Cruise and 2005's Racing Stripes.

In the early 2000's, Jansen appeared on Shia LaBeouf's show Even Stevens and had a recurring role in Nickelodeon's The X's.

He also did plenty of voiceover work, including lending his voice to Shovelmouth Boy in 2006's Ice Age: The Meltdown, as well as Truman X in the Nickelodeon television series The X's, and Periwinkle in Blues Clues.
