Heidi Range has said her eldest daughter Aurelia was a "blessing", who helped her through her miscarriage agony before welcoming her second child Athena.
Heidi, 39, and her husband Alex, 41, sadly miscarried twice after becoming parents for the first time to their five year old Aurelia.
And the star admitted it was a very “lonely” time, telling OK!: "I think no matter how far along you are, as soon as you get that positive reading on the [pregnancy] test, your whole world changes. You start thinking about how life is going to be in 12 months’ time.
"With Aurelia, I found getting pregnant easy and it was a really straightforward pregnancy and birth, I just assumed it would be the same again. So, it was a massive shock. It was hard for both of us."
Heidi went on to say that throughout the pain of losing a child, she focused on her "blessing" Aurelia.
"But now, I do think I would never have Athena if that hadn’t happened. And I kept reminding myself that when it happened to me, I was incredibly lucky to already have a healthy child," she continued.
"She helped me through that time. I focussed on the blessing I already had, which was Aurelia.”
Heidi explained that when she miscarried for the second time during lockdown, she was told to stay home to wait for the miscarriage to "naturally happen".
“I had gone for a scan and they told me it was non-viable," she added. “I had to sit at home and wait to see if the miscarriage would naturally happen.
"I was at home waiting for it to naturally pass. I was still having all the normal pregnancy symptoms – swollen boobs, cravings, tiredness and nausea, and in the end, it didn’t happen. I had to go in for the procedure.”
Heidi, who is an ambassador for Tommy’s – the largest UK pregnancy and baby loss charity – said she would encourage people to speak to their friends after it helped her.
“I was shocked at how many of my friends had been through it," she recalled.
"It can be a lonely thing to go through unless you speak to people around you.”
Heidi and Alex welcomed their youngest Athena, 19 months, in August 2021 and she said their daughters are "her world".
The singer then revealed that Aurelia is a fantastic older sister who often helps her out with Athena.
“Aurelia is great with her. She’s kind, thoughtful and caring. She’s my little helper," she said.
