From Dani Dyer to Gemma Owen, Jack Keating to Molly Marsh, nepo babies are not uncommon when it comes to the Love Island villa.
Islanders used to keep their famous family ties under wraps when they first entered the villa. However, as the show progresses, some contestants can't resist dropping hints or outright name-dropping their high-profile parents.
This year, Molly Marsh, the 21-year-old daughter of Coronation Street actor Janet Marsh, is among the show's lineup, further adding to the list of well-connected Islanders over the years. Here is a comprehensive rundown of Love Island's most notable contestants with famous family backgrounds.
Gemma Owen
The influencer and international dressage rider joined the show at the age of 19 during season 8 and eventually found love with fishmonger Luca Bish. Their relationship blossomed throughout the competition, leading them to reach the final. Unfortunately, their romance came to an end the following November, mere months after making their relationship official.
During one particular scene, fellow Islander Antigoni Buxton asked: “Sorry, excuse me if I’m being ignorant, but is your dad like very very well-known? He played for England, right?”
Confirming that her dad is the former England footballer Michael Owen, Gemma was then asked by another contestant if she liked David Beckham’s sons. She casually added: “Well, I went to nursery with his sons, yeah.”
Antigoni Buxton
The multi-hyphenate singer, model, and influencer made a brief appearance on our screens during season eight, leaving a lasting impression despite being dumped when the boys decided to save Danica Taylor instead. However, Antigoni's journey in the spotlight was far from over as she continues to chase her dreams in the music industry.
Turns out she also comes from a famous family, as her mother, Tonia Buxton, is a renowned celebrity chef and the owner of the well-known restaurant chain, The Real Greek. Together, they often delight followers with cooking tutorials across their various social media platforms.
Tommy Fury
With his recognisable surname a clear giveaway, Tommy Fury, who was runner-up alongside girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague in the 2021 series, also happens to be the younger sibling of the globally acclaimed boxer, Tyson Fury.
Although Tommy didn't openly discuss his illustrious boxing lineage during his time on the show, observant fans swiftly connected the dots once season five began airing.
Jack Keating
Jack, despite his brief stay of only five days in the villa, didn't shy away from name-dropping his famous dad. During a conversation by the pool with Gemma, he openly revealed that his father is a well-known singer.
Gemma quizzed: “A well-known singer?” and Jack replied: “Yeah he is, you know Ronan Keating? That’s the old man.”
Dani Dyer
Perhaps the ultimate nepo baby is Dani Dyer, who even shares the same name as her famous father, presenter and actor Danny Dyer.
As mentioned before, fame alone does not guarantee success on the show, but Dani and her partner Jack Fincham managed to capture the viewers' hearts and emerge as the winners, securing £50,000 in prize money.
Although they later separated outside the villa, Dani has continued to make appearances on various TV shows alongside her father. In more recent news, she has welcomed twins with her boyfriend Jarrod Bowen, who plays for West Ham FC.
Liam Llewellyn
Despite his very brief stay in the villa last summer, opting to leave after just six days, Liam kept his famous parentage low-key. However, it was later revealed that his father is none other than David Llewellyn, a renowned international rugby player who represented Wales in the 1999 World Cup.
Molly Marsh
Molly has been busy making waves already on the current series of Love Island, but the 21 year old musical theatre performer has already appeared on stage in pantomime and her mum, Janet Marsh, is a recognised TV actress, having worked on the likes of Coronation Street.
Janet has appeared in multiple roles in the long-running soap, appearing first as a nurse in 2005. She later returned to the cobbles as a receptionist at the Scott-Roe Clinic in March 2008 and then again as an ITU nurse in 2009.
