Holly Willoughby suffers bizarre make-up disaster minutes before This Morning goes on air

Holly Willoughby suffered a bizarre manicure malfunction minutes before appearing live to present This Morning on Friday.

The 40-year-old revealed the mishap in a video she uploaded to Instagram Stories informing followers that, whilst she was outfit and make-up ready – another part of her appearance was not.

In the clip, a clearly amused Holly is sat in her dressing room as her make-up artist Patsy O’Neil appeared to be flustered around her.

“So, uh, my nail fell off and Patsy decided to glue it back on,” she explained as she showed the tip of her index finger stuck to her the hand of her personal beautician.

“They’re my own, I’m having them done. We are now attached to each other like a substantive renaissance painting and we actually can’t get apart.”

The situation appeared to be quite stressful as Holly was due live on This Morning in a matter of moments, however the 40-year-old was able to see the funny side as she laughed along with her make-up artist about the blunder.

“Right come on, let’s try and detach,” she added with determination before finally breaking her finger and repaired nail apart leading her to punch her fist in the air with relief.

Holly later posted a photo of her full ensemble, looking suitably festive wearing a red mini dress with long sleeves, black tights and a pair of matching pumps with embellished buckles.

The host then headed off to the ITV studios to film her last This Morning show with co-host Phillip Schofield before breaking for the holidays.

“It’s CHRIIIIIISTMAAAAAS! Final day on @thismorning until Christmas Day… open the fizz!” Holly captioned.

In a pre-recorded appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show which airs this Saturday, the This Morning presenter spoke about her time on the daytime show and whether or not she plans to continue on with it.

"I feel very lucky to be on that show. The show changes so much, I think that’s the beauty of This Morning,” she said.

"Recently it's had the highest ratings it’s had in 15 years. It’s doing really, really well which is extraordinary for a show that’s been around for as long as it has. And I think because it changes and it evolves and it adapts.

"I’m very lucky to work with Phil. I can’t imagine a world without him being there. It just wouldn’t be the same. The magic of that show is us two together when we’re together.

"So no, I’m not retiring, that’s a really long answer."
