How Chrissy Teigen Feels Amid Fallout From Cyberbullying Scandal

Chrissy Teigen, one of the world’s most outspoken celebrities, has been quieter than usual amid her cyberbullying scandal.

The cookbook author came under fire in May after Courtney Stodden, who has come out as nonbinary, claimed Teigen had bullied them as a teenager, even encouraging them to kill themselves. Teigen later apologized to Stodden, but as the backlash continued and more celebrities came out against her, major retailers took big steps like allegedly dropping her new cookware line. How does Teigen feel amid it all? Here’s what we know.

Chrissy Teigen has gone radio silent since the scandal

Since the scandal unfolded in mid-May, Teigen has been almost totally silent on social media. But on May 29, Page Six obtained and published photos of Teigen in which she appeared to be in high spirits. Dressed in a bright yellow sweater and blue jeans, she was seen laughing on a FaceTime call following a reported work meeting.

The photos came a day after an OK! Magazine source claimed Teigen was having a hard time as she “genuinely regrets her hateful words.”

“The cancel culture backlash has totally caught her off guard,” the insider added. “But she has only herself to blame.”

Showbiz Cheat Sheet cannot confirm the report, but those alleged feelings align with comments made in Teigen’s apology note. In it, the Lip Sync Battle star wrote she was “mortified and sad at who [she] used to be” and was “ashamed and completely embarrassed at [her] behavior.”

“I have tried to connect with Courtney privately but since I publicly fueled all this, I want to also publicly apologize,” she added of the reality star, who became famous at 16 for marrying Doug Hutchinson, who was 51 at the time. “I’m so sorry, Courtney. I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am.”

“And I am so sorry I let you guys down,” Teigen went on. “I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.”

Courtney Stodden has forgiven Chrissy Teigen for her behavior

Reacting to the apology, Stodden wrote on Instagram: “I accept her apology and forgive her.”

“But the truth remains the same, I have never heard from her or her camp in private,” they added. “In fact, she blocked me on Twitter. All of me wants to believe this is a sincere apology, but it feels like a public attempt to save her partnerships with Target and other brands who are realizing her ‘wokeness’ is a broken record.”

Teigen did not comment on Stodden’s message. But hopefully, she has learned from the experience and won’t make these kinds of mistakes moving forward. Perhaps we’ll hear more from her on this subject sometime in the future.
