Hugh Jackman pays heartfelt tribute to cricket legend and friend Shane Warne

Hugh Jackman has paid a heartfelt tribute to Australian cricket legend Shane Warne, who has died at the age of 52.

The Marvel actor, 53, who hails from Sydney, is an avid follower of the sport and even played alongside Warne a number of times.

Jackman and Warne became friends, with the Wolverine actor even outing Warne for his habit of smoking in the locker room showers during an interview in 2017.

Now the devastated actor has reacted to the tragic news of Warne’s sudden death, and said he is ‘in shock’ at his loss.

Taking to Twitter, Jackman wrote: ‘Like you all I am in shock to wake to the news that @ShaneWarne had passed away.

‘I’m grateful to have known him, and to have witnessed his once in a generation talent.’

After retiring in 2013, Warne moved into the commentary box and continued to be a popular figure around the world, and worked regularly as a coach in recent years.

As well as being a world-renowned cricket star, Warne was also a devoted father; he leaves behind three children, Brooke, 24, Jackson, 22 and Summer, 19.
