Louise Minchin has admitted she thought her former BBC Breakfast co-star Dan Walker would be “terrible” on Strictly Come Dancing. She opened up to presenter Claudia Winkleman earlier today on her BBC show about Dan’s dancing.

Louise was a guest on the BBC Radio 2 show to discuss her former co-star.

Claudia asked her what she thought about his performance so far on the show when she made the admission.

She said: “I do genuinely feel a bit bad for saying this but I know I’m not alone in this.

“And don’t think he’ll mind me saying it because he would have thought it at the beginning.

“I thought he was going to be terrible.”

Although Louise did go on to admit when she saw him on the show, she realised she was wrong.

The former BBC star continued: “But he’s so good!

Louise also explained what her first reaction was when Dan announced he was joining the dancing competition.

She admitted: “I say this to his face, I went, ‘Really?’

“I have such a lovely relationship with him but he’s the least huggy person I know, the least touchy-feely person I know.

“And when he came to my party, he was dragged onto the dance floor.

“But he’s brilliant, isn’t he?”

Dan later reacted to the segment as he posted his thoughts on Twitter.

He shared Louise’s tweet where she mentioned she’d be talking about him on Claudia’s show.

She had penned: “Waiting beside the radio to talk to @ClaudiaWinkle on @BBCRadio2 all about @mrdanwalker and his other profession partner @NadiyaBychkova and #StrictlyComeDancing and remembering all those mad mornings we spent together!”

In response, Dan wrote: “Lovely listening to @louiseminchin with @ClaudiaWinkle.

“We both thought I would be ‘terrible’

“I hope you like the foxtrot tonight. Just about to try on my ‘Prince Charming’ outfit.”

Dan will be taking to the dance floor tonight with his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova.

The pair will be dancing to Once Upon A Dream from Sleeping Beauty.
