I'm A Celeb's Charlene White won't strip off for iconic jungle shower

EXCLUSIVE: ‘I’ll applaud anyone who’ll strip off for the jungle shower – but I won’t be one of them’: Loose Women’s Charlene White says she’ll be covering up as she bathes to avoid ‘showing the entire country her body’

Charlene White has said she ‘applauds’ anyone that will strip off for the I’m A Celeb shower – but admits she won’t be one of them.

The Loose Women star, 42, confirmed to MailOnline she will cover up as she bathes in the Australian jungle to avoid showing the entire country her body.

And she insists her decision isn’t because she’s insecure about her appearance, but she would rather remain discrete and wash without exposing her figure.

‘I don’t want to show the entire country my body’: Charlene White says she ‘applauds’ anyone that will strip off for the I’m A Celeb shower – but admits she won’t be one of them

Speaking from New South Wales, Charlene said: ‘I think what is wonderful about a show like this is that it demonstrates real life and real scenarios and real insecurities and there will be those who are really secure within their bodies and really happy stripping off and I will applaud that until the cows come home – it is brilliant.

‘But there will always be those who are also very tentative about doing that. I would probably come under that umbrella to be honest.

‘It is not that I am necessarily insecure about my body… I also don’t want to show the entire country my body.

‘But I think there is room for everybody, and I don’t think anybody should be judged as to whether they want to show everything off or they would rather shower with a swimsuit on.’

Charlene’s supportive comments towards the show’s iconic shower scene, made famous by the likes of Myleene Klass, Helen Flanagan, and Katie Price, come after 2006 contestant Lisa Snowdon told MailOnline she felt ‘pressured’ to strip off on her series.

In 2020, Lisa recalled: ‘When we did it, none of us wanted to get in the shower because we knew that the cameras were there.

‘We were like ‘Oh no, we’re going to be in the shower shot’ so we put it off for as long as possible in my year.

‘There was quite a lot of pressure – you feel massively exposed. We definitely delayed it for as long as we could until we were really, really reeking.’

Charlene, who’s a mum to Alfie, five, and Florence, three, came close to breaking down in tears as she spoke about leaving her two young children for the first time to take part in the show.

But she hopes thinking of them while she’s competing in trials will give her the motivation to succeed, and they’ll be impressed by her strength as they watch snippets at home.

‘They are always in my heart’: Charlene, who’s a mum to Alfie, five, and Florence, three, came close to breaking down in tears as she spoke about leaving her two young children for the first time to take part in the show

She said: ‘I have been trying really hard not to look at their pictures, because I know that it will get me all emotional.

‘I miss them massively but as long as I don’t see pictures of them, I can sort of hold on to some semblance of sanity, but I saw pictures of them yesterday in their Halloween outfits and I had a good old cry because they both looked really beautiful and really happy, and I miss them tons.

‘I hope that when they are at home, they are watching bits of it that they think their mum is quite bad ass for taking on this kind of challenge.

‘They are always in my heart and being apart from them for this amount of time isn’t going to disconnect us somehow. They came from me so I will always have that connection with them.’

The ITV news presenter was equally emotional talking about her Loose Women co-stars, tearing up as she credited her drive to remain strong during her jungle journey to their unwavering support.

She said: ‘They have been amazing to be honest and they think that I have balls of steel and will be able to breeze through it.

‘They feel like I can do it and that kind of belief helps to drive me and I’m really lucky to work with an amazing group of women who are incredibly encouraging, actually as I talk about them now oh goodness me, I am getting a bit emotional I’ve not seen them in a couple of weeks.

‘I do really miss them and there is something to be said for having a great group of women who have your back and I think I am really lucky to have that.’
