At his heaviest, Jordan Banjo weighed 23 stone, but his win on Britain’s Got Talent with dance troupe Diversity gave him the impetus he needed to increase his physical fitness.
The star danced for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance back in 2009, while still a teenager, and he quickly made the decision to overhaul his image as his star began to rise.
Talking exclusively to Express.co.uk in a previous interview, he admitted: “It sounds quite dramatic, but it’s true – when we had to get medicals and stuff, I was 16 and morbidly obese.
“I was in a dance group [but was] probably one of the most unhealthy people you could ever know!”
He added: “To be in a position where you’re gonna be performing every day, getting lots of amazing opportunities, living the dream of a lot of people who’ve worked really hard that wouldn’t get to do it, I found all the opportunities – for me myself and everyone in Diversity – to get fit and healthy.”

In fact, Jordan is thought to have such expertise on the subject now that last year he even fronted a healthy eating show, Eat Well For Less.
The aim of the BBC show was to encourage viewers to find nutritious and nourishing food that wouldn’t break the bank.
Jordan’s weight has fluctuated over the years, and in 2022 he even shared before and after snaps on Instagram to motivate anyone in the same situation.
Revealing that he feels “100 percent healthier” now than in his teenage years, he told followers he was “still shocked” every time he caught sight of an old photo of himself.
“Way less dancing, no diet structure and a lack of motivation had me how I was in the first pic,” he mused.
“But getting the mindset right and having a focus which was getting ready for tour has me where I am now.
“Random I know but thought I’d share because looking at those pics next to each other just gave me a shock!”
On one episode of Loose Women, Jordan confessed that, although he later developed a muscular, lean body, his initial weight loss journey hadn’t been at all easy.
“Compare me to the other boys, all they’ve got to do is sneeze and they get an ab,” he joked on the ITV show.
“I looked at a slice of chocolate cake and it felt like I gained a stone and that was always the way!”
Fortunately, Jordan’s weight loss struggles are now behind him as he prepares for his debut on I’m A Celebrity, alongside the likes of Helen Flanagan and Carol Vorderman.
The I’m A Celebrity All Stars 2023 series, which is held in South Africa, will begin on Monday April 24 on ITV and ITVX.
