A close friend of Mike Tindall claims he is under pressure to represent his in-laws during his history-making stint as the first royal in I’m A Celeb.
Harlequins player Danny Care, who rose through the rugby ranks under the 44-year-old's care and guidance, said the Royal Family would be watching to keep checks on any revelations made on prime-time TV.
Speaking exclusively to OK!, Danny said: “He probably won’t know what he’s got himself in for yet. The whole family will be watching.
"Kate and Wills and I reckon Harry, too, firstly just to make sure he’s not saying anything he shouldn’t but also to see him covered in muck and bugs and snakes and stuff. They’ll love it.
“There is a bit of pressure on him but he responds well under pressure. He’s your go-to guy if you need something.
If you need a calm voice and a calm head, Mike’s your man.”
Mike, 44, and wife Zara, 41, were guests of honour when Danny, 35, married his wife Jodie, 31, in a ceremony covered by OK! in 2016.
And they witnessed Mike and the late Queen’s granddaughter tie the knot in a private ceremony in Edinburgh in 2011.
Unlike his cousins-in-law Princes William and Harry, Mike doesn’t possess a royal title. Zara has said in previous interviews thne of the most popular royals, Mike has been described as the “cool uncle” and is reportedly Prince George’s “favourite” and is said to be particularly close to William, 40, and Harry, 38.
However, Danny said he would be under pressure to be on his best behaviour on behalf of his famous relations.
He added: “Knowing Tinds, he just needs to watch the language a little bit. He’s not just representing himself, he’s representing the Royal family.
He continues: “Both him and Zara are unbelievable people. It’s amazing that they’re royalty because you’d never know it. They are so down to earth, they’re such happy people.
"We’ve had a special relationship for a long time. If ever you had a problem, Tinds or Zara would be one of the people you would call because you know they would look after you. They’d offer you advice and help.”
Mike and Zara – who he calls Zed – met in a bar in Sydney, Australia in 2003 – the night England beat Australia and won the rugby World Cup
He’s always been open about their love story and previously said of his royal partner, “I’d love Zara if she worked behind a check-out at Tesco. She just happens to be Princess Anne’s daughter.”
