Inside Camilla’s A-list Christmas lunch which included Meghan and Harry’s biggest critics

It's been a turbulent and controversial week for the Royal Family, but this hasn't stopped Camilla for getting on with her Queen Consort duties, one of which being to join some influential Brits from the media industry for an exclusive Christmas lunch.

Camilla, 75, was papped on her way to the star-studded bash at the Murano restaurant in Mayfair on Wednesday, which was hosted by former head of royal grocer Fortnum & Mason, Ewan Venters.

Amongst those in attendance at the grand soiree were the likes of actresses Dame Judi Dench and Dame Maggie Smith, as well as ex-Top Gear frontman Jeremy Clarkson and TV presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Also joining the big-name group was arguably Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s most outspoken critic Piers Morgan.

Broadcaster and controversial The Talk star Piers, who was reportedly once friends with the Duchess of Sussex, hasn't held back when it comes to his thoughts against Prince Harry and his wife, particularly their idea to launch a Netflix documentary.

Camilla, 75, wore a formal ivy green midi dress as she head to the star-studded bash, choosing to pair the festive-colour frock with a navy cape with matching handbag and suede knee high boots.

The Queen Consort – who attended the event in a private capacity as opposed to as part of royal business – was also joined by Dame Maureen Lipman at the high class do, along with her own son Tom Parker-Bowles, on whom she planted a lovely kiss as they wished each other goodnight.

Actor Hugh Bonneville, radio DJ Chris Evans, actress Celia Imrie and comedian Jimmy Carr were also among those spotted leaving the luncheon clutching Murano gift bags.

It's unknown as to whether the Queen Consort caught up with Piers or other guests about the Sussexes widely-discussed documentary as she rubbed shoulders with the media stars, with the final instalment to the series being scheduled to go live the following day.

Christmas lunch attendee Piers, who has incessantly hit out at the ex-royal couple, reacted to the latest set of revelations in a series of of tweets.

"Prince Harry publicly trashing his brother William, branding his father King Charles a liar, and attacking his grandmother the late Queen for doing nothing. This is such a grotesque and sickening betrayal of his family," he wrote on Thursday night.

Piers added: "I’m being regularly heard/quoted in this second instalment of the Megsflix whine-a-thon. I’m traumatised by this terrible invasion of my privacy."

"God, their incessant whining is so insufferably exhausting. #MeghanandHarryNetflix," a third tweet read.

Former Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson – who also attended the exclusive central London event – was amongst those to share his criticisms of the Sussexes since their documentary aired.

Writing as a columnist for The Sun, his latest opinion piece saw the 62-year-old motor enthusiast not only dub the Duke, 38, "Harold Markle", but also claim his ex-Suits star wife Meghan, 41, "obviously used some vivid bedroom promises to turn him into a warrior of woke".

Joking that the Duchess "has her arm so far up his bottom, she can use her fingers to alter his facial expressions", Jeremy added: "I hate her on a cellular level."

Hinting at a scene from HBO's Game of Thrones, he continued: "At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, “Shame!” and throw lumps of excrement at her."

The latest three episodes see Camilla's 'step-son' Harry make bombshell claims against his father and brother William, claiming the latter had "screamed" at him before The late Queen regarding his decision to "step back" from royal duties.

Though having not yet commented on the latest allegations, Prince William was said to have been "furious" about the series, particularly with regards to the use of a clip from their mother Princess Diana's infamous Panorama interview.

Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have declined to comment on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's latest explosive episodes of their Netflix documentary series, it has since been revealed.

The Royal Family put on a united front this week during their attendance of Kate Middleton’s second Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey.
