James Argent is in training to swim the English Channel after shedding four stone.
The Towie Arg recently had a gastric sleeve fitted to help him slim down from more than 27 stone, saying he gained weight after overcoming a drug and booze addiction.
He has now lost four stone out of a goal 12 and told Steph's Packed Lunch on Tuesday that the transformation had already been life changing.
Talking about being a reality TV star, Arg told Steph McGovern: "It can be a lot of pressure… There were times when I was at my biggest I did feel uncomfortable about leaving the house and sometimes I’d wait until it was dark before leaving the house because I’d be conscious about having pictures taken of me…”
He added: “Now I’m in a place where I’m on this journey, I’m losing weight gradually and accepting the way I look now.”
Arg has said in the past that ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright has been supporting him to lose weight, and revealed that he is also on good terms with another of his exes, Gemma Collins.
He said: “I’ve got a good relationship with my ex-girlfriends, it’s nice not to be bitter. They’ve both probably got a bit too much on me!”
The TV star also said that boxer Tyson Fury was his weight loss idol and had inspired him to take on a swimming challenge to regain his fitness.
He explained: “He was morbidly obese and suffered with addiction problems and he went on to become a world champion. If I can use him to inspire me and get me across the English Channel after everything I’ve been through, that would be a dream come true.”
Arg, who was warned by doctors that coronavirus could kill him at his heaviest weight, added of being 27 stone: “It felt horrible, I was always extremely uncomfortable, I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror. It felt depressing and it just wasn’t me. Now I’m starting to feel like myself again and I’m excited about what the future is going to bring.
“It was scary being 27 stone… It was serious, doctors were telling me how dangerous it was… I knew it was something I had to address pretty quickly.”
