James Jordan is no stranger to sharing his honest opinion about Strictly Come Dancing hopefuls on Twitter and said he will continue to do so despite some backlash recently. The 44-year-old said his words are never intended to be malicious, so will therefore continue to speak his mind.
Earlier this month during a live show, the dancer shared a cryptic tweet writing: “Oh my how Strictly has changed.”
When asked about the comment in an interview with Express.co.uk, the dancer said there was “a lot more” Ballroom and Latin dances when he was a part of the line-up.
The dancer was a professional on the show for seven years alongside his wife Ola.
Reflecting on how times had changed, he added: “So, even with the pro dancers, when the pros come out, they’re doing dances that I don’t even recognise.
“And yes ok listen, things move on, I get that, but essentially people loved and celebrated Strictly all over the world because it was Ballroom and Latin dancing.
“As a Ballroom and Latin dancer, that’s what I love watching.”
James went on to say that he does however still loves watching the show and said some other parts are now “so much better” than they were before.
“I think it’s fantastic but it’s just very different to what I did when I was on the show,” he added.
Strictly made its first move away from traditional Ballroom and Latin style in 2018 when it introduced the couple’s choice category.
The new option allows dancing duos to choose from one of three new dances that they believe will show off their celebrity’s best moves.
Two years later, the show introduced its first same-sex pairing, Nicola Adams and Katya Jones.
This was followed by John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, who made it to the final of the show last year.

In the current series, there have been two same-sex couples; Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice and Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer.
Sadly for Richie, his time on the show came to an end after three out of the four judges favoured Fleur East over him in the dance-off.
James said of the result: “I’m surprised as in I thought Richie would be very popular and saved – however I really didn’t enjoy the dance and get why people didn’t vote for them.
“I’m more shocked about Fleur and hope it doesn’t knock her confidence.”
He added: “Lots of you saying Fleur was not great tonight but I still feel she had a lot of great dances to come.”
Fans were left shocked by the result as neither Richie or Fleur were at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Addressing his exit, the radio host told partner Giovanni: “I feel so lucky that I’ve got to dance with you every day.
“Not only are you a fantastic dancer but you are also a fantastic guy on top of that.”
He went on to say he was “so proud” of what he had achieved on the show.
