TOWIE cast member James Lock looked completely unrecognisable in a trailer for an upcoming show after suffering horrendous injuries to his face.
James, who has starred in the Essex-based TV show since 2013 with cast members like Gemma Collins, Joey Essex and Amy Childs, is one of the many celebrities to be taking part in Channel 5’s upcoming show, The Challenge UK.
The 36 year old hunk is set to battle celebrities like Curtis Pritchard, Marcel Somerville, and AJ Pritchard in the show, which is set to air later this month.
James, who last month reunited with Megan Barton-Hanson on the red carpet for Welcome to Chippendales, was rushed to hospital after sustaining injuries to his face in the very first episode.
In the trailer, James could be seen with some serious bruising on his face, puffy cheeks and two black eyes.
A source further told The Sun that James was eliminated first after “fracturing part of his face” and spending weeks in recovery.
They explained: “James was rushed to hospital after seriously bruising his face within the first three days of filming the Challenge UK.
“The injury was caused during one of the many dangerous activities contestants have to take part in. It was so scary to see. He was in agony.”
James was subsequently unable to continue with the competition.
The Challenge, which originally began in America, sees celebrities tackling high-octane challenges to avoid elimination, with contestants previously competing in challenges like roller derby, braving icy waters, bungee jumping 700 feet and scaling vehicles at a great height.
The celebs will be competing for a cash price of £100,000 and the chance to compete in the global championships against victors from the Argentinian, Australian and American series.
Former I'm a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here campmate Mark Wright will be hosting the series, which is set to air on 20 February.
The first lot of celebrities to undertake The Challenge include Love Island’s Kaz Kamwi, Danni Menzies, Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, Kaz Crossley, Courtney Veale, Zara Zoffany, Ella Rae Wise, Tristan Phipps and Ashley McKenzie.
Arabella Chi, AJ Pritchard, Curtis Pritchard and Callum Izzard are also competing.
A statement from Channel 5 read: “These stars have a track record full of parties, hookups, and memorable one-liners, but none have ever played The Challenge.
"Contestants are shocked by the grueling nature of this new competition, which not everyone will leave unscathed. Will these titans be able to adapt and thrive in this treacherous new terrain of brutal athletic battles, political betrayals, and sultry distractions, or will they fall apart as the pressure builds throughout the season?"
