Jamie Foxx posts apology to Jewish community after sparking outrage on Instagram

Jamie Foxx has posted an apology on Instagram after a message left fans furious.

The actor was accused by some of anti-Semitism following an Instagram post about the crucifixion of Jesus.

In the post uploaded on Friday night, Foxx shared on his grid a photo that read: “THEY KILLED THIS DUDE JESUS… WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY’LL DO TO YOU???! #fakefriends #fakelove.”

Despite there being no photo attached, with the post itself just being white text on a black background, the Ray star later took the photo down after backlash from people believing it to be an anti-Semitic statement.

On Saturday morning, Foxx apologized in a new post for any offense and offering a clarification.

In a screen grab from his notes app, he wrote: “I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post.

“I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I’m sorry. That was never my intent.”

He continued: “To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with ‘they’ not anything more.

“I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended.

“Nothing but love always, Jamie Foxx.”

The actor, who has been recovering from an unknown medical issue that resulted in him being rushed to the ICU, has since been supported by fans and friends online.

Among them was Jennifer Aniston, who – according to a screengrab shared online – had liked the now-deleted post.

She furiously hit back at the accusation and those who thought she was supporting anti-Semitism.

Posting on her Instagram Stories, the Morning Show actress wrote: “I did not ‘like’ this post on purpose or by accident.

“And more importantly, I want to be clear to my friends and anyone hurt by this showing up in their feeds — I do NOT support any form of antisemitism. And I don’t tolerate HATE of any kind. Period.”

Oppenheimer actor David Krumholtz also offered Foxx words of support and said: “I am Jewish and I thought it was one helluva leap to call it antisemitic.

“I knew exactly what you meant. Everybody needs to chill.”
