In a cheeky unearthed moment, Jane McDonald, 59, appeared to aim a cheeky jibe at her previous partners, one of whom she met while working on a cruise ship. The star shot to fame in 1998 on The Cruise.

In one moment from that debut series, Jane made an unflattering comment about finding love at sea.

On the show in an early episode, Jane said that cruises are often a “hotbed of passion”.

She added that relationships and small flings are a regular occurrence for guests and staff.

Jane went on to say: “All morals go out of the window on a ship!”

The Holidaying with Jane McDonald star admitted that “everybody” finds love on board.

“Everybody falls in love on ships,” she said.

“I mean it’s the most romantic setting in the world.

“You’ve got the beautiful sunsets and you’ve got the gorgeous islands and the heat, I mean everybody just falls in love on a ship.”

The singer then quipped that things happen while out at sea that “would never happen” on land.

“Things happen on ships you would never do on land and you end up with people also that you would never look twice at on land.

“You go back to land and think, what have I done here?” laughed Jane.

In 1998, Jane married her then-husband Henrik Brixen.

The two had met on a cruise ship in the ’90s.

In 2003, the couple split, and Jane has spoken frequently about how difficult the break-up was.

She said she was “gobsmacked” when the relationship didn’t work out.

Jane explained that she sat at home with the shutters down for six months until her mum finally made her get up.

After she and Henrik got divorced, Jane never remarried.

However, she did find love with her late fiancé Eddie Rothe.

Eddie sadly died from cancer in March 2021 and Jane announced the news in early April to a flood of support from fans.

Holidaying with Jane McDonald airs on Sunday May 1 at 10pm on Channel 5.
