Comedian and actress Jayde Adams’ Strictly Come Dancing journey has been a highly emotional one so far.
The 37-year-old broke down in tears after the first live show and was shocked by the standing ovation she got for her debut dance with partner Karen Hauer, 40.
And it’s the secret heartache of losing her older sister Jenna to a brain tumour when she was just 28 years old back in 2011 that has made appearing on Strictly so important to her.
“Jayde is a very emotional girl and she’s had a real journey with losing her sister,” a source told us.
“Her dream has always been to be on Strictly so she was really nervous about her performance, but she knew her sister would have loved to have seen her on the show.
"She is absolutely pinching herself that she is there. It’s an emotional time for her.”
The sisters used to perform in disco dance competitions together when they were younger, and speaking about appearing on the show, Jayde said she’s keeping a promise she made to Jenna to keep her memory alive.
She added that her sister would be both “proud” and “jealous” of her Strictly stint if she was here.
Jayde explained: “Jenna said to my mum before she died, ‘Do you think people will forget me?’
"And I get to dance for her on television. I get to live her memory in this way. She’ll be proud, but very jealous.”
It comes after Jayde was left speechless after she received a standing ovation for her first ever dance on the BBC show.
Jayde was stunned before making her way over to the judges' table and presenter Tess Daly, before the host asked: "Oh my goodness. Okay Jayde, you just danced on Strictly and got a standing ovation.
"The judges are about to comment, do I need to pinch you?"
"Thank you, Tess." Jayde replied, to which Tess pinched her arm as she shared: "It's real, it's real! Well done darling, it was amazing!"
Judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood were impressed with her and Karen's performance, giving her an overall score of 23.
Jayde has been very vocal about how much she has been looking forward to her time on the show and being partnered up with Karen.
"I feel like it’s not real, I feel like someone made a Strictly themed birthday party and I’m in the middle of it!” she said last weekend.
She went on to say of her partner: “Karen IS Strictly."
