As Jesy Nelson prepares for the release of her solo debut single Boyz, the former Little Mix star has revealed the track is inspired by a break-up.
The 30 year old singer was tight-lipped about which former flame had inspired the lyrics but confessed she loves “a bad boy”.
Speaking to Noctis magazine, she said: "I wrote it when I was going through a break-up and it’s me all over."
Jesy added: "I just love a bad boy. I say it to people all the time… it's not healthy!"
Since finding fame on The X Factor in 2011, Jesy has been in a number of high-profile relationships.
Most recently, the star dated actor Sean Sagar and Jesy previously told the Guardian that she “fell madly in love with him” before they decided to call things off.
She said: "With my ex, it was the first time I’d been with someone where I wasn’t in control. I fell madly in love with him.
"Let’s just say it was nothing like how I’d been treated before. I thought that’s what I wanted.
"I wanted to be kept on my toes and have that chase and hand on my heart. I don’t ever want that again.”
Prior to her relationship with Sean, Jesy had a 16-month relationship with Love Island’s Chris Hughes, but the pair split when they were forced apart as coronavirus lockdown measures came into effect.
Jesy is now thought to have reunited with another exes, Harry James, who she dated in 2017.
A source recently told the Sun: “Jesy has had her own battles but with her solo career ready to go and her bond with Harry stronger than ever she’s really in the best place.
“She can’t wait for what the rest of the year will bring.”
The release of Jesy's track Boyz was pushed back due to “unforeseen circumstances” but it is expected that the song, which samples P Diddy's classic Bad Boys For Life, will debut later this month.
