Jodie Turner-Smith, 34, will be playing Anne Boleyn in Channel 5’s new drama series, which begins tonight. In real life, the star is married to Dawson’s Creek actor Joshua Jackson, 42, who she met at a charity event in 2018.
Jodie has opened up about how when they first got together, it started as a one-night stand.
She explained: “When I first met my husband, it was kind of, we had a one-night stand.
“We’re in a two, three-year one-night stand now.”
The Anne Boleyn actor dished all when she appeared on the talk show Late Night with Seth Meyers.
She continued: “First of all, I saw him before he saw me, and when I saw him, I was like, ‘I want that.’
“And then when he saw me, I just pretended like I didn’t see him.
“He had to yell across the room to me, and I was wearing this T-shirt from a movie called ‘Sorry to Bother You’ and [actress] Tessa Thompson plays a character called Detroit, and she has this T-shirt that says, ‘The Future is Female Ejaculation.’”
Jodie added about the interaction: “And so, he shouts across the room, ‘Detroit!’
“He comes over and … does this really cute, charming thing that he does and just all night, he just basically followed me around the party.”
Speaking about their meeting to The Telegraph, Jodie described the moment they first saw each other.
She said: “We saw each other across the room, and that was it.
“Well, he saw me across the room. I had already seen him earlier!
“‘And he didn’t know I already staked claim to that.
“Of course, I wasn’t going to go and talk to him but when he saw me, he introduced himself. We’ve been inseparable ever since.”
The couple married in December 2019 and have one daughter together.
Their baby Janie is just over one years-old after being born in April 2020.
The model and actor has posted about her husband on social media in the past.
This includes a tribute back in June 2020 where she labelled him her “soulmate”.
She shared a picture of Joshua to her 299,000 followers as she penned: “big soulmate energy.
“#1 daddy. just checking in to say that us girls are so lucky to have ya.”
While Joshua posted a loving birthday message to Jodie back in September.
He wrote: “Happy Birthday my beautiful wife. Thank you for choosing to share your light with me.
“Thank you for walking this path of life as my wife. Thank you for bringing our daughter into the world.
“This last year has been the happiest whirlwind of my life. I can’t wait to see what all the years to come bring our way.”
