Comedian John Bishop has recalled his “eventful day” after he was caught in a car accident. He shared pictures of the aftermath as well as a video of him in a police car as he detailed the incident to his Instagram followers.

The comedian was on his way to catch a ferry to Ireland when the crash happened.

He explained how he’d had to swerve his car when someone in front of him did the same to avoid hitting a “big chicken”.

John shared some images of his crashed Land Rover as well as some helpful policemen to his 736,000 followers.

Alongside this, he explained: “I was driving to catch a ferry to Ireland when something happened!!

“To avoid a car that was swerving to avoid a ‘big chicken’ as I overtook I ended up like this.

“Nobody was hurt thanks to @landrover_uk being brilliant and no oncoming traffic.”

He continued: “I missed my ferry but went on as a foot passenger on a later one thank to James and Tony from @dyfedpowyspolice. (sic)

“Amazing how helpful people can be when you need them and thanks to the other drivers for staying including Andrew who I think sadly hit the ‘big chicken’ anyway.”

As well as his post, John also posted some videos of his “eventful day” on his Instagram stories.

In one of them, he can be seen in the back of a police car.

He said: “I’m in the back of a police car but for good reason.

“These lads are helping me out, you’ll see a picture later as to why.”

John later shared a video of him on the ferry as he gave an update to his followers.

The comedian continued: “So a very, very eventful day.

“Eventually arriving in Ireland without a car but getting here.

“A long time since I’ve been here, I look forward to it.”

Following his posts, John has been inundated with well-wishes from friends and fans.

Richard Bacon wrote in response to his update: “Glad you’re ok bada**.”

While local police Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police replied to his post after he tagged them in it.

They penned: “Hi John, pleased that you have arrived safe, take care!”

One of John’s fans wrote: “Ouch! At least you are ok John! Cars can be mended or replaced xxxx.”

Another added: “So glad you weren’t hurt.

“Obviously more important than the life of a chicken, but I still feel sorry that any living thing got hurt and applaud Andrew for being soft hearted.”
