The Recording Academy will honor John Legend with the inaugural Global Impact Award during the Recording Academy Honors Presented By The Black Music Collective.
Legend will be honored with the award for his personal and professional achievements in the music industry, the Academy said in a press release.
Legend will be celebrated with a performance by Summer Walker, and D-Nice will be spinning music throughout the night, with MC Lyte as the voice of the evening and Adam Blackstone as the musical director.
Jimmy Jam, the first Black Chair of the Recording Academy Board of Trustees and Songwriting Hall of Fame inductee, will deliver a speech at the ceremony.
The names of additional special guests will be announced later.
The inaugural Black Music Collective event is taking place at Resorts World Las Vegas on April 2, the evening preceding the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
A 12-time Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, producer, and philanthropist, Legend is currently a part of the Recording Academy’s Board of Trustees and is an Honorary Chair of the Black Music Collective.
