Johnny Vegas, 51, missed tonight’s St Helens v Catalans Dragons game as he was feeling under the weather. He took to Twitter earlier today to update his fans as he stressed he did not “want to pass it on”.
In view of his 510,000 followers, he typed: “Get in Roby! Sorry folks, late to welcoming back @SuperLeague & our magnificent @Saints1890.
“Should’ve been at @twstadium tonight but feeling a bit ropey & didn’t wanna risk passing owt on.
“Nice one @Dodd1Lewis. Let’s get marching in right from the start of 2022!”
Johnny signed off the message with the hashtag “saintsandproud”.

Johnny recently received a barrage of support from social media users after he announced he had been cigarette-free since the start of the new year.
The comic previously said he smoked 60 cigarettes a day.
However, now he has taken the decision to quit the habit, Johnny’s six-year-old son Tom has shown him his full support.
Tom gave his dad a drawing card to commemorate Johnny’s idea of giving up the cigarettes.
The Benidorm star shared a snap of the drawing as he admitted that giving up smoking has been “rough”.
He tweeted: “Still a long way to go but boosts like this via youngest lad Tom help to take it another day further.
“Genuinely not being smug, I’m just trying to let other quitters know that I know it’s rough.
“If I falter, I’ll get up & start again but for now 24 days ciggy free Ta Son x.” (sic)
The drawing by Tom included the words, “To Dad, Tom.”
“Dear Dad well done for stopping smoking. Love Tom.”
He drew a cigarette which was crossed out with two lines in the middle.
Johnny had previously tried to give up smoking to no avail.
