If you didn’t know, Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang is writing the new movie, which is based on the novel by Victor Hugo, and the music is being done by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. No casting announcements have been made public yet from Disney.

“We need to know what’s gonna happen with the Hunchback live-action remake you are to direct. It’s postponed or cancelled. For the role of Esmeralda, I truly recommend @HibaAbouk! Please have her in mind whenever the casting process starts,” a fan wrote to Josh on Twitter.

“Getting. Closer. And. Closer,” he wrote back.

Shortly after achieving his EGOT status, composer Alan Menken revealed the official title to the upcoming spinoff from Beauty and The Beast. He is on board for the six episode show that will air on Disney+ and bring back Luke Evans and Josh Gad as Gaston and Le Fou. Find out more!
