Rooting for Charlene!
I’m so glad the news is finally out there – my Loose Women friend Charlene is in the I’m A Celebrity jungle! I’m over the moon for her because I know how excited she is.
Yes, she’s a newsreader and a presenter, but she’s also got such a joyous personality and an infectious sense of humour, so I can’t wait for everyone to see this side of her.
Then again, I’m flabbergasted that Matt Hancock has signed up. He may be trying to rebuild his career after the affair that saw him break Covid rules and his downfall as health secretary.
But it’s crazy that going on I’m A Celeb is what he gets suspended for. I think lots of people will be voting for him to do the eating challenges…
Let's party!
Now, I’m not generally a fan of a Halloween party – we don’t usually celebrate it in Caribbean culture – but hello! You can’t turn up to Jonathan Ross’s exclusive soiree without a spotlight-stealing outfit.
So, I opted for a pop-punk neon-style 80s look, complete with fishnet gloves, hot pink leg-warmers and a lime green wig!
Then, later in the week, I was invited to Channel 4’s 40th birthday party, which involved a beautiful dinner with some of the faces of this extraordinary channel.
It was a night filled with admiration and love. Cheers to 40 more years!
Well done, Jimmy
I’d like to send huge congratulations to my dear friend Jimmy Akingbola following the release of his new eye-opening documentary Handle With Care.
It reveals his personal experience in the care system and later being brought up in a white family.
We see him being totally vulnerable and honest, which is incredibly refreshing, and he very clearly points out the changes that evidently need making when it comes to children being placed into care-based situations in the UK.
It’s a ground-breaking watch and I’d highly recommend that readers catch up with it.
A night to remember
My goodness, what a night I had at the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever! I was honoured to be invited and it was incredible to share the red carpet with so many of the film’s stars, yet it was bittersweet that Chadwick Boseman was missing as he sadly passed away prior to the sequel being made.
But you could tell everybody there was carrying him in their thoughts.
The film also marks Rihanna’s return to music after six years with Lift Me Up, which is on the soundtrack. That song alone is emotional enough to make me tear up! It really was special.
Never forgotten
The music industry has been struck by grief this week. I’d like to express my condolences to the family of rapper Takeoff, who died aged 28 after being shot.
My thoughts are also with singer Davido, whose three-year-old son Ifeanyi tragically drowned in his home swimming pool, according to reports.
They will both be remembered for the joy they brought into the lives of others. They’ll never be forgotten.
