For the first six weeks of 2022, Julia Fox and Kanye West were a publicity machine. The actress and rapper connected on NYE and were officially over by Valentine’s Day, but they truly made the most of that time, if you measure “making the most of time” in media coverage (see their relationship timeline as proof).
Even though it seemed like Julia and Ye’s *entire* romance was documented in painstaking detail in real time, she’s out and about, proving that there are still new Juliye facts to learn. Here are some of the most interesting tidbits she gifted the world during a new interview with the New York Times (from Milan, where she’s living her best Fashion Week life and becoming a “human-sized billboard” for Versace).
Julia insists dating Kanye West didn’t change her.
Pre-Kanye Julia and Post-Kanye Julia are (according to Post-Kanye Julia) exactly the same—except that Post-Kanye Julia has a new wardrobe and a PhD in fame.
“I’m still 1,000 percent me,” she said. “Nothing’s changed, except, I will say, having been around Kanye was like a crash course on how to be famous.”
Dating Kanye was hectic and stressful AF.
Julia says she ultimately ended the relationship because it was just too much.
“I tried my best to make it work,” she explained. “I already had a jam-packed life. How do I fit this really big personality into this already full life? It just wasn’t sustainable. I lost like 15 pounds in that month.”
Julia and Kanye’s relationship was real-ish.
When asked flat out if the relationship was genuine or a publicity stunt, Julia answered with the kind of expertly un-vague vagueness that would probably come in handy if one were to embark on a publicity stuntship: “I mean, there were definitely elements of it that were real.”
She did not *formally* audition to be Kanye’s girlfriend.
The NYT reporter also asked Julia about rumors that she interviewed for the “job” of being Kanye’s publicity stunt GF, which Julia described as “ridiculous” before going on to basically describe feeling like she was auditioning for the role of Ye’s GF.
“It definitely felt like I was his girlfriend,” she said. “But it also felt like I was being cast in the role of his girlfriend—and he was casting me. He was the orchestrator of it all. It really did feel like a movie.”
She thinks Kanye would have to be “dumb” to leak private intel about her publicly.
Julia was also asked about her post-Ye life—specifically, if she’s worried about him going after her on social media or sharing anything she’d prefer to keep private. For the record, she’s not.
“I don’t think that he would want to open that door with me,” she said. “If you come for me, I’m going to come for you. And I’m really good at coming for people. I just go straight for the jugular. I don’t think he would be dumb enough to do that.”
Oh, and on a related note, when asked if she had signed any kind of nondisclosure agreement that would prevent her from such retaliation, her answer was very simple and very clear: “No.”
