Kanye West Spent $12.5 Million Of His Own Money On Presidential Campaign

Kanye West spent about $12.5 million of his own money towards his 2020 presidential campaign, according to a Federal Election Commission report.

The report says a majority of the singer’s campaign funds was spent on “ballot access” services and consulting. West qualified for ballot access in 12 states: Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and Vermont.

Kanye, who launched the campaign with the hashtag #2020Vision and the slogan “Ye for President,” spent $13.2 million overall. He raised more than $2 million from 3,047 individual contributions.

West’s campaign spent more than $7.5 million on fees related to “ballot access,” including $1.28 million in payments to Atlas Strategy Group.

West reportedly spent $210,544 on a two-page ad in The New York Times one week ahead of the election and paid $918,130 to Los Angeles Apparel for campaign apparel on Election Day.

West came sixth among all candidates in the election, earning 66,636 total votes for about 0.04% of votes nationally, according to a NBC News report.
