Kate Middleton and Prince William have been photographed at the opening of Orkney's new hospital, The Balfour, on Tuesday 25 May.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met NHS staff as they officially opened the new hospital in Kirkwall, Scotland, after travelling from Edinburgh in a helicopter.

Kate, 39, looked gorgeous as she wore a camel coat by Massimo Dutti along with a brown top and a pair of camel trousers.

She accessorised her look with a red and brown checked scarf along with a pair of brown heels.

Meanwhile, the Duchess styled her hair in a half-up-half down look and kept her makeup to a minimal.

Kate was joined by hubby William, who wore a navy jumper and trousers of the same colour.

He had a brown blazer over his outfit and a pair of brown shoes on.

The couple met with hospital staff at the official opening event, which began being used in 2019.

Royal couple Kate and William, who is predicted to heal his rift with brother Prince Harry, are currently on a tour of Scotland together until Thursday 27 May.

William began the tour alone on Friday 21 May where he undertook ceremonial duties for his role as Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

Kate later joined William on Monday 24 May, where the pair visited North Lanarkshire together.

The royal couple, who celebrated 10 years of marriage last month, have visited a leading social care charity to hear about the vital support that they provide to those with complex needs, including addiction and mental health challenges.

Kate was even seeing flexing her DJ skills during the visit, as the couple met with those involved in charity Turning Point Scotland.

The tour comes following reports that Kate has taken on Prince Philip's role as the "glue" in the Royal Family.

In an interview on 60 Minutes Australia, Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nichol said Kate Middleton was in the position of keeping things together for the family.

Kate told viewers of the Duchess: "I think Kate is the glue. In the same way that the Duke of Edinburgh was always the one who would help resolve family issues.

"He was the patriarch of the family."

She added: "I see Kate stepping into that role. Trying to keep things together."
