Kate Middleton ‘found walkabout with Harry and Meghan hard’ due to ‘ill-feeling’, new book claims

Kate Middleton found the Windsor walkabout alongside Prince Harry and Meghan "one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do" after the Queen's death, a new royal book has claimed.

In a new book called Our King, which uncovers the rift between the Sussexes and the Royal family, veteran royal correspondent Robert Jobson claims the Princess of Wales told a senior royal the walkabout was difficult due to the "ill feeling" between the couples.

Two days after the Queen's death in September last year, Prince William, Kate, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made an appearance altogether to greet well-wishers and view the flowers left outside the gates of Windsor Castle.

At the time, the couple's joint appearance was reportedly said to have been William's idea to put on a united front which gave the impression that there was a sense of reconciliation.

But in the new book, Robert said sources close to the Royal family confirmed to him that it was an "illusion".

He wrote: "Catherine later admitted to a senior royal that, such was the ill feeling between the two couples, the joint walkabout was one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do."

William, Kate, Harry and Meghan had once been labelled the 'fab four' following several appearances together as working royals.

But after Harry and Meghan stepped down from their roles as senior royals in 2020, the tell-all Oprah Winfrey interview, the couple's controversial Netflix documentary series and Harry's explosive memoir Spare, the rift between the Sussexes and Royal family has lengthened.

Spare, which was released in February this year, contained a number of attacks on the Royal family including digs towards his older brother, Prince William, his father, King Charles. and even towards the late Queen Elizabeth tucked among the pages.

Following the family rift, the Sussexes’ attendance at the King's Coronation on May 6 is still unknown.

Although it has been confirmed that they have received an invitation to the big day, the couple are yet to announce whether they are attending or not despite the RSVP deadline passing on Monday.

It is reported that Harry and Meghan are yet to inform palace aides if they will be flying in from California for the service.

However, across the pond, the New York Post reported that plans are being finalised for the couple to fly in for the Coronation.

A source said: "There have been lengthy discussions between the Sussexes and the palace.

"There is a time crunch on this, of course. It is such a historical event and it's hoped that Harry and Meghan will be there."

While another source said: "All families are difficult, but this is no normal family, of course.

"Harry has a lot of questions about how the event will work."
