Kate Middleton interviewed midwife Harriet Nayiga to mark the completion of Nursing Now; a three year global campaign to raise the status and profile of nursing.

The Duchess of Cambridge interviewed midwife Harriet via video call for an interview in the May edition of Nursing Times.

It is released today to coincide with the International Day of the Midwife.

Mum-of-three Kate spoke to Harriet back in March about her incredible work in in Uganda both as a midwife and as the founder of MILCOT (Midwife-led Community Transformation), which is a community organisation.

Kensington Palace released the pictures of Kate speaking to Harriet via video call, as she stunned in a chic blue blazer, which she wore over a black top.

The 39 year old wore her glossy brunette hair twisted back into a chic half up style, as she accessorised with some simple earrings.

Kensington Palace released the pictures of Kate and wrote alongside them: “Today is the International Day of the Midwife.

“The Duchess has marked the completion of Nursing Now, a three year global campaign to raise the status and profile of nursing, by interviewing midwife Harriet Nayiga for the May edition of Nursing Times.

“Harriet spoke to The Duchess about her work in Uganda as a nurse and as the founder of MILCOT (Midwife-led Community Transformation), a community organisation providing advice and support for vulnerable women and girls.

“Over the last three years more than 31,000 young professionals have signed up for Nursing Now’s Nightingale Challenge, 64 Nursing Now groups have reported increased investment in nursing and there has also been an increase of nurses in leadership positions, as Chief Nursing Officers and on boards, who are able to exercise greater influence in shaping policy and service delivery.

“The May edition of @nursingtimes is a special issue, with a cover chosen by The Duchess, celebrating the work of @nursingnow – swipe to see the cover.”

Kate launched the Nursing Now campaign back in February 2018, and last year she marked the International Day of the Nurse by video calling nurses in seven different countries, alongside The Countess of Wessex.

It comes after Kate and husband Prince William’s daughter Princess Charlotte celebrated her sixth birthday on 2 May.

A beautiful photo of the youngster was released by her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, ahead of the special day.

The image was taken by Kate at their Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk.

The stunning image sees Charlotte showing off a wide grin with her long hair falling down past her shoulders.

Looking strikingly similar to mum Kate, Charlotte looks beautiful in her birthday photo and wears a Rachel Riley floral dress in blue and pink.
