Kelly Clarkson recently revealed that she has written around 60 songs since filing for divorce from Brandon Blackstock last June.
During a press-junket for “The Voice,” Clarkson opened up about recording new music at a time of separating from her estranged husband.
“I don’t know how anybody, I’ll just be real with you, goes through grief like divorce, any kind of grief, any kind of loss, without having an outlet like this,” she told ET.
“I have written like 60 songs, it is an insane amount of getting it out. I think that’s a blessing in itself,” she continued. “Anytime you go through some life, it’s such an awesome thing to have that outlet, regardless of whether people hear it or not.”
Clarkson said that fellow “Voice” coach John Legend‘s latest album, Bigger Love, had a healing effect on her at a time she was going through the worst moments of her emotional life.
Brandon Blackstock, 44, and the 38-year-old singer-songwriter share daughter River Rose, 6, and son Remington Alexander, 4 in their nearly seven-years long wedlock.
