Kelly Clarkson jokes that shes a red-flag collector & could do an exhibit with them

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s divorce is still not complete, but they did bifurcate their divorce and they’re on their way to figuring out the money and property issues. Kelly’s divorce was awful for her – Brandon and his father were also her managers, and they defrauded her out of millions of dollars. Then Brandon wanted something like $450K A MONTH in support (and he ended up getting $200K a month temporarily). Brandon also tried to have the court invalidate Kelly’s prenup too! The court upheld it several months ago. You get the idea: Brandon is a sleazy golddigger and he tried to swindle Kelly out of all of her money. Kelly understands now that she refused to see all of the red flags popping up over the years. She spoke to the Love Someone podcast about Christmas music, sarcasm and red flags:

Missing the red flags during her marriage to Blackstock: “I regret nothing. Even unfortunate things that happen in your life or hard things, ’cause we can do hard things. But also I feel like that’s what shapes you, it’s what makes you a better person, it’s what makes you recognize: OK I missed those red flags, I missed that, I ignored that on purpose.”

She joked that her next album could be called “Red Flag Collector.” “I mean… I’m just collecting them. I was apparently wanting to do some kind of exhibit with a lot of them.”

She’s open to what the future holds: “Like in relationships, it’s hard to be as creative as I can because I wear my heart on my sleeve…I mean… you never know about love. I think we’re engineered, especially from where I’m from, to have to have that.”

Her sarcastic Christmas album: “I’m supposed to make this Christmas record, and I love Christmas music, so I was like, I don’t know how to be happy, maybe I could be sarcastic,” the singer shared, adding that the idea of “everything might be canceled” inspired her new single “Christmas Isn’t Cancelled (Just You).” “No one’s ever really released a breakup Christmas song before, ’cause like, why would you? That’s kind of messed up. It is a happy song! It is a very happy, empowering song, because what the song says is, ‘Too bad for you, Christmas isn’t canceled. I’m gonna put every damn light in the world on my house and I’m not going to sit here and cry any more over you.’”

People have this debate all the time, that the “she missed the red flags, she ignored the red flags” puts too much of the onus on the woman being victimized, gaslighted or lied to. In this case, Brandon Blackstock is a con artist who defrauded her and financially abused her. There needs to be more energy towards condemning him and calling out his behavior, rather than Kelly owning the fact that she perhaps willfully ignored some of the red flags. I mean, it can be both. Unequally both. Brandon is 85% to blame. 15% of it was Kelly ignoring the red flags.
