Kenny Chesney recently released a new music video for “Knowing You,” the fourth single off his 2020 album Here and Now.
The video, shot in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and the Virgin Islands, shows Chesney taking to the sea, working on a fishing boat in the Atlantic Ocean and sailing in the turquoise water of the Caribbean with his dream girl.
“Not everything is meant to last. You don’t think about that when it’s perfect. And when it’s over, there’s a huge hole, but there’s also a pair of wings,” Chesney says in a voiceover.
He adds, “Knowing you, wherever you are, I know you’re happy. You’re flying, and free. And I’m here still grateful for knowing you.”
The visual also shows Chesney singing the acoustic number at a dive bar in the New England town with locals drowning their sorrows.
“It’s such a pure song,” Chesney said in a press release. “If you listen, you can find the people you love in it. I wanted the video to have that, too.”
“Wherever they are, you know they’re living their best life; they’re shining and doing the same thing for someone else — and that can be in this life, or the next.
“I wanted to make a video where people could see it, even feel that connection and how it holds you going forward. To me, the people who touch your life in profound ways are everything, so this song—and this video—are for them,” he added.
